The New Mexico State University Chapter of Omega Chi Epsilon (OXE) Chemical Engineering Honor Society had its 40th induction ceremony on November 19, 2019. In attendance were current senior members and 8 new junior inductees. Dr. Paul Andersen, the faculty advisor for the organization, was also present to welcome and congratulate new members. In honor of the 40th year anniversary, Dr. Marc Traeger was selected as an honorary speaker for the induction ceremony. The organization has five major objectives;
Dr. Marc Trager helped establish the New Mexico State University Omega Chi Epsilon chapter and served as the first president of the organization in 1979. This was 48 years after Omega Chi Epsilon had its inception at the University of Illinois in 1931. After graduation, Marc went into a career in industry. After one year in industry, he decided to attend medical school. He received his MD from the University of New Mexico of Medicine in 1986. He has worked for the Indian Health Service and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Marc was selected as the honorary speaker for the 40th induction ceremony of the NMSU Omega Chi Epsilon Honor Society and shared his perspectives with the students. The New Mexico State University Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Honor Society is a student organization committed to recognizing excellence in chemical engineering and encouraging a higher level of achievement. We need your help to make our efforts go even further. We are raising money to help fund the cost of the Fundamental Engineering licensing exam fee (FE exam). The best time to take the licensing exam is during the final semester of college, however, many students defer from taking the exam due to the cost. Our goal is to provide students with the opportunity to achieve a higher level or excellence in their careers and that begins with being able to provide funding for the licensing exam.
