Zoe Elliott, a transfer student from the New Mexico State University Alamogordo, graduated with an associate’s degree in general engineering and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering on the New Mexico State University main campus. Elliott was selected for the All USA/PTK Academic team, which chooses two community college students from each campus around the country. NMSU has subsequently granted Zoe the Academic All State Scholarship, which provides two years of tuition.
In addition to the Academic All State Scholarship, Zoe was awarded the Hadley Honors Transfer and the PTK Transfer Scholarships, all of which require a 3.5-3.75 minimum GPA and continuous enrollment of 15 credits.
PTK is an international honors society which celebrates academic excellence and encourages community college students to finish their degrees. Zoe was nominated by Dr. Gallagher, who is in charge of the Alpha Nu Beta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa which is the branch Elliott was president of when given these awards, the Academic All USA team also got to go to the capital where they were presented with a medal and got to meet state representatives. Zoe was also able to participate in a summer coop with the New Mexico Department of Agriculture Petroleum lab where she was able to gain laboratory experience.
