Illinois MRSEC – metallic ferromagnetic materials

The Illinois MRSEC is excited to offer a 10 week long NSF-funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. Students will join with a MRSEC faculty mentor doing cutting-edge, interdisciplinary materials research on projects related to metallic ferromagnetic materials or 2D materials, with both experimental and computational projects available.

  • Dates: May 29 – August 3rd, 2018
  • Location: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Urbana, IL
  • Compensation:  $5000 stipend for the summer, plus free housing, meals, and travel to/from REU site
  • Application deadline:  March 1st, 2018
  • Who should apply: students enrolled in a 2- or 4-year undergraduate program studying engineering, physics, chemistry, materials, or a related field; must have completed their sophomore year by June 2018; must be 18 years of age or older; must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
