Freeport-McMoRan has an exciting opportunity for recently graduated students who are looking for a career in Metallurgy.
This Metallurgist I role will be located at our Tech Center in Tucson, Arizona.
The position is looking for specific skill sets, including:
- Hands on approach with a notable mechanical aptitude
- The ability to use statistics for problem solving
- Sampling theory (Gy)
- Mineral Processing
- Knowledge of the key aspects of flotation
- Knowledge of comminution processes (grinding, crushing, etc.)
- Fluid Dynamics
- Knowledge of pump mechanics
- Process Control (Six Sigma certification highly valued)
The person in this role will spend 30-60% of their time conducting work in the offices and labs managing test programs and performing data analyses, and the other portion of their time in plants focusing on flotation and comminution – specifically grinding circuits and surveys.
While this position does have specific skills needed, as an entry-level position willingness to learn and an understanding of core concepts is most important.
