CHMEs perform at G.I.R.L. Extravaganza

The weekend of 09/30/17, seven AICHE ladies representing CHME went to Bernalillo, NM to perform science demonstrations at the G.I.R.L. Extravaganza put on by the Girl Scouts. With demonstrations by the names of ooblek, slime, and burning money, the demos were an absolute hit. The girls learned about lab safety with gloves and safety glasses, and about all the fun you can have with science. There were fascinated girls and parents asking for more information about non-newtonian fluids, mixing properties, and the Chemical & Materials Engineering Department at NMSU. When asked about the event, attendees responded with, “We can’t wait for the G.IR.L. Extravaganza next year!”
