Let Dr. Rockstraw know if you want to be nominated…
Dear COE Deans and Department Heads:
I’m serving on the Domenici Institute Advisory Council and we’re soliciting nominations for top students interested in a challenging and rewarding leadership development opportunity, to serve as a Student Panelist at the 2018 Domenici Public Policy Conference on September 12 and 13 at the Las Cruces Convention Center. As it says on our student panelist website ( https://domenici.nmsu.edu/student-panelist-program-2018/ ) “In their role as Domenici Student Panelists, students are the only members of the audience who are invited to ask questions of the Domenici Conference speakers. Students discover that this tradition is an honor and a responsibility as they query highly distinguished policymakers, scientists, military commanders, and political strategists on behalf of more than a thousand attendees.”
The general topics this year will be National Defense, Immigration, and the Future of Political Parties in New Mexico and the Nation. Both the Republican and Democratic candidates for New Mexico Governor will be invited to speak among what should be another outstanding lineup of speakers.
I’m reaching out to my COE colleagues to consider nominating a student for the Domenici Student Panelists Program. If you have an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student who is intereseted in and would dedicate themselves to this exciting leadership development opportunity, please don’t hesitate to nominate them by filling out the online form at https://domenici.nmsu.edu/student-panelist-program-2018/ Students who are nominated by faculty or administrators are also required to submit a letter of interest (not to exceed one page) explaining why he or she would like to be a panelist. Have your student address the letter of interest to: Dr. Kevin Boberg, The Domenici Institute, New Mexico State University, PO Box 30001 (MSC 3-DI), Las Cruces, NM 88003 and email it to: firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday March 30, 2018.
If you have any questions about this program and its demands on student panelists, please don’t hesitate to contact me. The due date for nominations is March 30, 2018.
Thank you and Happy Friday,
